Online Law Office FAQs

What is an Online Law Office?

An online law office (also known as a virtual law office) allows you and your attorney to communicate quickly and securely regardless of the time of day or where you’re physically located. Once you register, you will have your own secure, private client portal from which you can interact with me to obtain the legal services you need. You will be able to check the status of your legal matter and store important legal documents and attorney-client communications which you can access 24/7 from the comfort and privacy of your home or office.

How can I get in touch with you to discuss my legal matter?

You have three options.

1. You can register for the Online Law Office. Although our firm is completely web-based, we will be in constant communication via discussions on your online client account and on the phone. You will always be able to check the status of your legal matter online, as well as to open a new matter and receive legal services when you need them, 24/7.

Our Online Law Office makes it easy for you to:

  • Purchase a legal strategy session,
  • Send us your documents,
  • Check the status of your matter,
  • Ask any questions you may have,
  • Review any legal documents we have drafted for you,
  • View and pay your invoice.

You will get an alert every time your file is updated, automatically letting you know whenever there is progress on your legal matter.

2. You can also request a free consultation using the contact form on our website. However, you should not put sensitive details in our main contact form.

3. And lastly, you can always give us a call. We are available by phone from 9am – 5pm EST. You can reach us at (646)389-7201.

How do I get started working with you?

Many clients will first connect with us via the Online Law Office or via email. We will schedule a free consultation where we can learn more about you and your business, discuss your legal needs, and answer any questions you may have about pricing and how the Online Law Office works.

The next step after you decide to become a client is to register for the Online Law Office (if you haven’t done so already). The we will usually send you an engagement letter, an intake form, and an invoice (via the Online Law Office, of course).

I’m worried about exchanging documents online. How do you keep my documents safe?

Our virtual law office software uses a level of security comparable to what online banks and government agencies use. Only you can access your private and secure Online Law Office page. Unlike email, which is generally unencrypted, our communications are completely secure, using the highest industry standards of secure HTTP.

Your documents are backed up on state-of-the-art secure servers, which automatically make redundant copies kept in multiple locations. This significantly minimizes the risk of data loss when compared to conventional computer backup systems.

How much do you charge and how do I pay you?

We have a No Surprises philosophy when it comes to legal fees. All of our fees are flat rates. We do not charge by the hour. You will always know what our fees are before we begin the work and we will always inform you ahead of time if there is ever additional work that would trigger an increase in our fees. When you work with us, you have control over your legal costs.

You can purchase legal services as you need them, such as to draft a contract or to register a trademark. You can also enroll in one of our Annual Small Business Packages for a fixed monthly price. We offer a variety of annual legal service packages to suit the needs of both new and established businesses. All packages are designed to meet all of your legal needs for the year based on your particular level of business.

Please note: We pride ourselves in offering excellent customer service so we won’t take on more annual clients than we can serve exceedingly well. We still have a few spots available at each level for this year, if you are interested in the Annual Small Business Packages, get in touch today!

How do I know whether you can accept my legal matter?

Our attorneys are licensed in New York, New Jersey and California. We also work with a tax attorney, a patent attorney and a network of online-based attorneys located in other states. For intellectual property matters, such as trademark and copyright, we work with clients all over the country because it’s a federal practice area.

If you are unsure whether we can work with you, please send us an email or give us a call. If we can’t handle your matter, we will do our best to refer you to another online-based law practice that can.

What types of businesses do you work with?

While we work with a variety of businesses, (online businesses, traditional brick and mortar businesses, technology startups and nonprofits), they generally have one thing in common: their owners are young and/or women entrepreneurs.

Do you work with brand new businesses or entrepreneurs just starting out?

Yes, we love to support new ventures! We offer different levels of support that allow new entrepreneurs to take care of their legal needs without breaking the bank. As your business grows and your legal needs change, we’ll be able to help make sure you’re still protected.
