Online Law Office FAQs
What is an Online Law Office?
An online law office (also known as a virtual law office) allows you and your attorney to communicate quickly and securely regardless of the time of day or where you’re physically located. Once you’re registered, you will have your own secure, private client portal from which you can interact with us to obtain the legal services you need. You will be able to check the status of your legal matters and store important legal documents and attorney-client communications which you can access 24/7 from the comfort and privacy of your home or office.
How can I get in touch with your firm to discuss my legal matter?
You have three options.
1. You can request access to the Online Law Office. Although our firm is web-based, we will be in constant communication via discussions on the Online Law Office and over the phone. Once you are registered, you will always be able to check the status of your legal matter online, as well as to open a new matter and receive legal services when you need them, 24/7. Request access here.
Our Online Law Office makes it easy for you to:
- Purchase a legal strategy session,
- Send us your documents,
- Check the status of your matter,
- Ask any questions you may have,
- Review any legal documents we have drafted for you,
- View and pay your invoice.
You will get an alert every time we send you a message or document, automatically letting you know whenever there is progress on your legal matter.
2. You can also request a free consultation using the contact form on our website. However, you should not put sensitive details in our main contact form.
3. And lastly, you can always give us a call. We are available by phone from 9am – 6pm EST. You can reach us at (855) 803-4769.
How do I get started working with your firm?
Many clients will first connect with us via the Online Law Office or via email. We will schedule a free consultation where we can learn more about you and your business, discuss your legal needs, and answer any questions you may have about pricing and how the Online Law Office works.
The next step after you decide to become a client is to register for the Online Law Office (if you haven’t done so already). You’ll receive an email invite from us to get that set up. Then we will send you an engagement letter, an intake form, and an invoice (via the Online Law Office, of course).
I’m worried about exchanging documents online. How do you keep my documents safe?
Our virtual law office software uses a level of security comparable to what banks and government agencies use. Only you can access your private and secure Online Law Office page. Unlike email, which is generally unencrypted, our communications are completely secure, using the highest industry standards of secure HTTP.
Your documents are backed up on secure servers, which automatically make redundant copies kept in multiple locations. This significantly minimizes the risk of data loss when compared to conventional computer backup systems.
How much do you charge and how do I pay you?
We have a No Surprises philosophy when it comes to legal fees. All of our fees are flat rates. We do not charge by the hour. You will always know what our fees are before we begin the work. When you work with us, you have control over your legal costs.
You can purchase legal services as you need them, such as to draft a contract or to register a trademark. You can also enroll in one of our Annual Programs for Digital Entrepreneurs for a fixed monthly fee. Our Annual Programs for Digital Entrepreneurs come in four handy levels of service depending on the size and structure of your company. Each level is designed to meet all of your legal needs for the year based on your stage of business.
How do I know whether your firm can accept my legal matter?
Our attorneys are licensed in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. We also work with a tax attorney, a patent attorney and a network of attorneys located in other states, including California. For intellectual property matters, such as trademark and copyright, we work with clients all over the country (and the world) because it’s a federal practice area that does not require a particular state bar license.
If you are unsure whether we can work with you, please send us an email or give us a call. If we can’t handle your matter, we will do our best to refer you to another similar law practice that can.
What types of businesses do you work with?
While we work with a variety of businesses, most of our clients are small businesses like mobile app developers, digital agencies, online magazines, big name bloggers, tech startups and other small businesses with a significant online or technology aspect.
Does your firm work with brand new businesses or entrepreneurs just starting out?
Yes, we love to support new ventures! We offer different levels of support that allow new entrepreneurs to take care of their legal needs without breaking the bank. As your business grows and your legal needs change, we’ll be able to increase your level of service.
